Google has published the specification for Google Glass.
According to Glass project the Google Glass will have screen resolution of
640x360 pixels. This sounds low quality but if we think about it the screen
will be in front of our eyes. According to people who work for Google the
filling will be similar as we’re looking 25-inch HD monitor at distance of 2,5
meters.
Glass will be equipped with 5 megapixel camera which
will be able to record in resolution 720p. It is interesting to know that the
sound will be transferred through scull, which means that Google Glass won’t
have headphones and the glasses will be ready to transfer the sound as soon as
we put them on the head. The glasses will come with 16 GB of memory but the 12
GB will be available since the 4 GB will be reserved for pre-installed
software. Pads through which Glass will sit on the nose can be adjusted so as they
will adapt to each size of the nose and the package will come in two additional
sizes. All in all, Google says that the glasses will be comfortable to
everyone.
As far as battery life, Google says that Glass with
typical use, with no additional charge will endure an entire day. Charging will
take place through the classical micro USB cable. In terms of network
connectivity, Glass will offer the ability to connect to 802.11b / g wireless
network and will have Bluetooth, through which they will be able to connect
with smartphones. Owners of smartphones with Android will also be able to pair
with the application MyGlass that glass will add GPS functionality and support
for SMS - of course, only with the mediation of smartphones.
The first Google Glass that comes out from production
line will be reserved for developers. This way their job of making the
application will be easier. Google has also released documentation for Mirror
API, which is the interface for writing applications for Google Glass.
