Samsung's next edition of
tablet called Galaxy Note will be more resistant to falls and damages.
According to OLED Association, Samsung will implement plastic non-breakable
OLED screens in new Galaxy None III. These OLED screens are thinner and lighter
compared with classical models that have glass substrate. The plastic OLED screens should save clumsier
owners of Galaxy Note III from expensive repairs in case of a possible fall off
and break the screen, which in most cases is the first casualty. The latter is
more likely the larger diagonal screen; they are present in today’s tablets.
According to the same
source, the Samsung OLED plastic will be much thinner and lighter than a
conventional OLED and LCD screen (0.5 mm and 50 grams versus 1.5 mm and 100 g
of standard OLEDs and 3.2 mm and 160 g with LCD), so that the device remains
more room for capacitive battery. Samsung Galaxy Note III should have a screen
diagonal of at least 5.9 inches (or more), while full HD resolution less
likely, says OLED ASSOCIATON. Introducing the device is expected in September
at IFA 2013 and moving sales in the last quarter of this year.
